30th Original Folk Song Festival and the Award Presentation Ceremony

The 30th Original Folk Song Festival, featuring ensembles of young singers, was held on June 27 within the traditional Vidovdan celebrations. The best men’s ensemble was the “Sveti Sava” ensemble of amaterous singers of Orah (Montenegro) and the best women’s singing ensemble was that of the “Ravangrad” Cultural and Arts Association from Sombor. Special jury awards went to the “Crnućanke“ women’s ensemble of Gornji Milanovac (Special Award for Contribution to the Preservation of Original Folk Songs), to the “Oplenac” Cultural and Arts Association girls’ singing ensemble (Special Award for Best Girls’ Singing Ensemble) and to the “Razigrano kolo – Vez“ women’s ensemble of Medveđa (Special Award for Authentic Interpretation).

Recognitions were also presented to those who, owing to their work, dedication and support, have contributed to the preservation of culture, tradition and development of the Rudnik area. The „Rudničana“ Association presented charters and golden plaques to the following persons: Vesna Proković, a years-long journalist, librarian and editor of the cultural programme of the “Sveti Sava” National Library in Aranđelovac, for her contribution to the preservation of cultural heritage and for cherishing the tradition of the Rudnik area, Aco Ilić, the general manager of the „ Rudnik i flotacija Rudnik company, for his generous support to cultural life in Rudnik and for the fact that he understands the significance of the preservation of cultural heritage, and Ivan Komatina, director of the „Contango“, company, for his contribution to the development of the local community and to the activities of the “Vojislav Ilić” Cultural Centre and for investments in culture as an important part of Rudnik’s development.
