Miners’ Day celebrations – August 6th

On August 6th, on the occasion of the Miners’ Day, the Rudnik i flotacija Rudnik company organized the traditional Open Day for all their current and retired employees and their families and also for the locals, partners, media and friends of the company. Jubilee awards for 10, 20, 30 and 40 years of work have been presented to 19 employees, whereas the best miners, namely Miloš Kojić, Strahinja Nedić and Goran Minić, received recognitions. Milena Tajisić won the „Dr Bosiljka Bosa Jovanović“ recognition for best female employee. The recognitions were accompanied with monetary rewards.
On that day sports events were organized and so was competition in the preparation of the “best miners’ fish soup.” The event was completed in the “Vojislav Ilić” Cultural Centre in Rudnik with the opening of the exhibition “Rudnik – My Legacy”, dedicated to the first post-war miners – members of the oldest families from Mt Rudnik, whose ancestors worked as miners there back in the early nineteenth’s century, during Karađorđe’s rule.
